TWO WEEK CHALLENGE

– New screed floor for housing developer.

David Russo Building Services Ltd was brought in by a major housing development company to attend a property which has had inconsistencies with the screed floor depth.

The flooring needed to be replaced because it had begun to disintegrate in areas of high traffic. The whole area affected was approximately fifty five meters square.

After discussing procedures with the developers and client, it was agreed that the client would be temporarily moved into alternative accommodation and arrangement of storage of all furniture the client had in the affected areas.

Once all areas affected were clear, the first steps were to dispose of the carpets and removal of all kitchen base units. The worktops were propped up with temporary supports so that no disruption was caused to areas above the work surfaces. This minimized any potential damage to worktops or kitchen furnishings. The existing fire place was also removed and all second fix carpentry, skirting, doors, architraves etc...

The next step was to remove the existing screed and insulation, reinstating it with a new consistent floor. Additives were used to reduce drying time to enable operatives to continue working the next day.

The new flooring was laid, which meant that the disabled access and front door heights had to be raised.

With the structured and practical approach taken by our operatives and office staff, all tasks including re-fitting of the kitchen units, all carpentry and redecoration works were completed within the allocated time to a very high standard.

Due to our detailed and in-depth planning and our operatives adherence to a rigid work program, the performance and skill of our tradesman was maximized and the work was executed proficiently.
